Treasure system taking a piss? - Guild Wars Forums

Went on two trips on a roll to the Underworld with the same group, one of the players got 4 etcos (or whatever its called) from the two trips, while I have been there over 50 times, a few times a day, I have only ever got 3.

I recieved 1 shity green item that worth 5k on the market out of the three times I have been today. While others, get two greens per person.

The time I got the green item was because two or three people left before fighting The Darkness, what the funk is going on with the treasure system?

Is there a systematic reason behind this?

Just the luck of the draw. I never get greens, always get ectos and get more superior vigor runes then all my guildies combined. Go figure.

I believe they are on some type of system because, every other time I went into SF a green dropped. Maybe it was just a coincidence. I don't really know for sure.

I always end up getting most of the greens from tomb runs..but never do I get ectos :-S (or gold runes...)

Before I stopped going down into SF, my green/# of trips ratio was 2/35. The 2 greens were flints fleshcleaver and Tanzit's Cleaver. Sold for like 30k total. Woopty-freaking-doo.

My chest drops always suck ass, and in my 9 months playing this game I have only ever got 2 ectos. Also, I managed to get a sup. absorb./ runeat one pont, but that was probably my most expensive drop ever.

I have gone to the new tombs twice, got Wenslauss's Faith, so maybe my green ratio will be better in the new area.

The drop system really does need some tweaking. If it is completely random, as the common theory states, than maybe they need to un-randomize it, and tweak it to allow for more even drop rates between party members.

I looked up the word RANDOM in the dictionary to clarify things to people AGAIN..............

RANDOM- Having no specific pattern, purpose, or objective.

AT RANDOM- Without a governing design, method, or purpose; unsystematically.

The system is never going whacky , never out to get you, never different from one day to the next

The Gods look poorly upon those who complain and even more so on those who make threads with the purpose of getting others to complain with you.

My advice would be to bite the bullet and stop complaining before you anger the Gods even more and your drops get even worse!
Here is a simple fact "Life is not fair!!! But sometimes it's not fair in your favor"

.. and do we ever here from any of you when that is the case???

Some things that people don't realize

(as stated previously) Drops are random as to what you get
NPC have "drops" but you don't see them (illusion that there less drops)
The more you farm the same area, the less number of drops you get unless you move around the world

After three trips there today and getting nothing, i thought one last go maybe ah'll get elswyths longbow- Heres hoping

Imagine my surprise when the darkness dudes drop VICTO'S BLADE AXE AND BULWARK for my group mates.......While i get a yellow dye

Oh and the monk got elswyths longbow

i got 10 ectos only since the game has been released and i did billions of uderworld so it depends

sometimes u'll not get any gold item for a week or month but if u go with some1 the system loves him too much u'll get many gold items from single farming run.

if u got a green thats mean u r lucky because some of the UW farmers need to do it many times for a single green.

This may sound stupid but I wanted to bounce it anyways.

Do you guys think that drops are correlated to how you got your skills?
For example would the game reward a char that "earned" his skills more than say someone who "bought" them? Could it be written into the gaming code this way? Or do you guys know for a FACT that the game is random? Have you read it somewhere credible?

The reason I brought this up is there are many threads posted on this. I myself have posted a thread identical to this long ago. But the thing is I always read things like what Quick Monty said. People saying that they do better than players they know.

Don't flame just entertain the idea for a sec.

what do you guys think?

Well, I know someone who knows someone who is roommates with someone who knows a developer at Arena. They told me that if you have ever paid for a run somewhere, gotten Drok's armor at anything lower than level 17, ever solo farmed for anything, gotten more than 50 deaths, or ever done any missions with just henchies, then you are put at the bottom of the list for green item drops. And also, if you enter the UW from a city of more than 10 people, you won't get ANY drops.

... and I have some ocean-front propety in North Dakota I am selling. It's only 100k and 35 ectos. Whisper me in game if interested.

Jeez people, Random is random is random! Hopefully people will get sick of it and stop trying to farm for green items and just enjoy playing the game. Having the best weapons and tons of gold is really unnecessary to enjoy the game. Maybe when Factions comes out and there are so many new places to play, it will help others find more green drops in the current places instead of the 55 monks hogging them all! Speaking of monks, I say NERF them. They are WAY TOO powerful in the healing department....

1. Of course.
2. Do they just decrease the NUMBER of drops you get, or also the QUALITY of the drops you get? For example, I have heard from some people that by bringing 1 henchman with you, you actually lower your odds of getting a "Rare" (gold or green) drop to 1/10 the odds of soloing.
3. Can you explain this? Does this mean that every once in a while I have to travel to a new city to discourage bots, or do I actually have to kill X monsters out of an area before the monsters in the area go back to a normal drop rate.

Random, meaning just that, not random per person per group per trip. Random globally, Heres an example I go months literally no exaggeration with nothing no ecto, shards, green drops nothing. Then in the last 2 weeks BAM, 4 ecto, 5 sup runes, 5 greens from tombs & a very very nice storm bow from a chest in tombs. So it will happen you will have dry spells or even runs. We have all been there & if you havent you will. I did a 3man trapper run other night in UW, 4 ecto drop none for me. The following night I did 5 4 man trapper runs I got nothing but 2 ecto dropped on first run, none on 2nd, 1 on 3rd & 4 on last. We lost favor so I went to tombs and did a barrage/pet tombs run. I got Victos Axe & Illayana Staff on same run.
So be patient your drops will come or come back whichever is the case.

like they say luck of the draw in my 3 month span of playing i have gotten 15 ecto 3 sup absorbs and a couple vigors no good golds really tho its just knowing how often 2 farm an area is all

I have been working at the same place for ten years and, I pass the same gas station on the way everyday (5 day work week) for 10 years. When I get gas at that gas station (2x a week) I throw $5 on the largest paying lottery, with RANDOM numbers. Never have I won. Yet some guy two states over from my home places one dollar one time and wins over 50 million dollars. To top that off he was already wealthy from his fathers estate.

DO YOU HERE ME SAYING THERE MUST BE SAYING SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE LOTTERY SYSTEM??? NOPE!

yet I cotinue to farm the same gas station to this day. Hoping to get LUCKY for the lottery to RANDOMLY draw my number.
Wish I could close this thread. Oh well it will happen soon.....lol

These are just questions, lighten up people. The point of these questions are to gather information based on players experience. No one needs to hear about how you may think someone else thinks this is unfair. Thats their opinion, why can't we just leave it at that? Besides this type of post has been done to death, and still it keeps coming up. Maybe the drops are completly random like you say. I personally think they are, and only base that on time and experience. But you have to admit that amongst all the code that exists in games it makes people wonder.

By the way I hope you win the lottery!

I've done ToPK only 3 times with my monk and have gotten a total of 5 greens. Whenever we get to the bosses I always attack them, and do some heals of course. Also I try to use as much energy as possible, I'm not sure if it has any real affect on the drops. But I think the amount of healing and/or damage may be taken into account when the drops are distributed. Atleast thats my superstition anyway, maybe its right maybe it wrong, either way I usually get good drops so im happy
